Rock Star

This is Rocky. Rocky is the original puggle mutt. His parents were a Pug and a Beagle. He was rescued from a Humane Society and then his owner moved to a place that couldn't keep him. So Rocky went to live with his owner's father, Vic. Vic lives a street over from my mom and dad in New Smyrna Beach. He is the nicest man! Everyday Rocky walks Vic around the neighborhood. If Rocky doesn't want to go in the direction Vic wants, he sits. And you can see, Rocky is quite a
cute little sausage...so when he sits, he stays! It's quite cute!!! Well, it probably wouldn't be if I were walking him, but to see Vic try to drag Rocky home is quite a hoot!

Rocky loves to visit my mom. Of course she loves everyone, so she feeds the cats, dogs, fish and birds as much as she feeds us! So Rocky enjoys visiting Mary's Bait and Feed. She also throws the ball for Rocky and he runs on his chubby little legs and snaps it up! Heaven forbid the darn thing get suck under the couch or table though. Poor Rocky with set to barking and wake the whole neighborhood! Ok, well maybe just dad, but it might as well wake the whole neighborhood for the amount of fussing Stu will make. So when I visit, I LOVE to play ball. And if Rocky barks, then it's just a fun way for me to make dad's day!

Vic is a terribly nice man. He comes in and visits and chats for quite a bit, while we throw the ball for Rockstar. Vic has been struggling with prostate cancer for many, many years. He recently decided not to have chemo again, which makes me sad, however I hate the thought of the pain he'd go through, should he have to go through chemo again. They have him on a medication that has helped him gain weight though and he looks SO good! It's hard to believe he is sick, since he looks so good.

Anyhoo...I love Vic and I love Rocky. They make a great pair!

Amber Kitty and Mum

This is Mom and her friend Amber. They were chillin' on the porch in the sunshine the day before we left for home. Amber belongs to Marie Simpson and travels back and forth from New Hampshire to Florida every year. She is a cat who is a snow bird!

Segway

On our recent vacation to Florida we were lucky enough to go on a Segway tour!  It was so much fun.  Segway is the “revolutionary” vehicle that a lot of mall cops use…but turns out to be serious fun.  Corey, myself, mom and Donna Mooney spent an hour and a half on our last day in New Smyrna Beach on a tour.  After about 10 minutes of instruction (each) we set off on a super fun tour.  All you do is lean forward and backward to make the Segway go.  And the handle is strictly for steering.  At first all the machines were set in Turtle mode allowing us to travel only 6 mph.  That sounds lame, but when you get going it seems quick.  We took a couple side roads towards the beach and went up on a walkway to look for turtles.  It was quite chilly, so we didn’t see any turtles, but it turned out that didn’t matter one bit!  We were too occupied and excited about getting back on the machines!

We visited two little park areas that mom and I hadn’t ever seen.  Then our tour guide, Rob, pulled us over and changed our settings so we could go faster.  By law, the Segway is a mobility scooter and can only go 12 mph.  So after the change we zippity-doo’d down the beach at a breezy and quite quick 12 mph!!  Holy cow!!!  Was it ever fun!  We did some turns, raced down the beach and had just a grand time.  The weather wasn’t fantastic, but the sun was out intermittently and it was just a grand time.

After our beach adventure we headed up to some back roads behind the “main drag” and saw homes and places we’d never ventured to.  It was neat.  Then Rob finished up our tour by having us go down the main drag of Flagler Avenue, smiling, waving at people and having a grand time.  Man, it was like a parade.

We all agreed that this was one of the most fun things we’ve ever done in New Smyrna and that we will definitely be doing it again.  What a blast!!!!

Sick and Sad

So I'm sad cause we came home from Florida. No more Mummy. No more sunshine (albeit with a cold wind). No more good cooking (until Corey's Sunday evening feast). No more doggy visits by Shimsa, Santina, Shelby, Sydney, Rocky, Cooper, Buffy or Baby. No more geriatric outings with the biddies and their friends. No more reading in the early afternoon sunshine. No more bike riding in the neighborhood. No more chilly visits to the pool. Did I mention no more Mummy? I certainly miss it.

Also, while Corey went to Florida with a cold and got to nurse it in the sunshine, his delightful bride (HA, that's a laugh) got it on the opposite end and now I am sitting at work, trying to think while getting over a Tussinex evening, while coughing, hacking and sniffing everywhere. *sigh*

So here is my letter to Florida.

Dear fun, fantastic, fabulous Florida,

Please take good care of Mary and Stu. Keep them well, safe and happy. (Or as happy as dad's medication will allow him to be anyway!)

For our vacation next year, please work on less wind and more sunshine. Less clouds and more sunshine. Also, more sunshine is always welcome!

And on a side note, we LOVED the Segway tour. How fun can one and half hours be anyway?

Again, take good care of Mary and Stu and keep an eye on all our 4 legged and 2 legged friends!

Sincerely,
Jenna

Florida/Mummy Time

As of 11 today I have been in Florida. We have already eaten. And then had a snack. Then we ate again. We've visited with mom's cat and 4 dogs. There will be more tomorrow. We also practiced the fine art of becoming giant goosebumps while shivering in our suits at the pool. It's 68 degrees here today, but the wind....whooooo, holy cow!!!! So now, at 7:32 (I've been up since 3:15) I am contemplating bed. How wrong is that?

90

So this week I have been battling a little bit of the stomach flu. I stayed home on Tuesday to moan, groan and run to the potty. It's not the pottying so much that bothered me, it was the nausea and slight vertigo. Then, whenever I ate anything, it made my stomach rock, roll and roil, so that wasn't too much fun. But the up side was the 3 pounds I lost between Monday morning and Wednesday morning!!! Yeah!!! So I have officially lost 90 pounds! Whooppeeeee!!!! I think if I lose another 5 I'll be down one more size. 6 pounds and I will be the smallest I have ever been as an adult (and probably since I was 14!) 10 more and it's 100! Whoo hoo!!!

Bobbi Jo's Birthday

Friday night I had Bobbi Jo and her children over to dinner. We had Pizza from Sals and an Apple cake by Tastefully Simple. It was fun and yummy. Cole was a busy bee and has no inside voice, but he was pretty funny. I can't believe how old and grown up he is getting. Cheyanne too. It's been fun to watch her development. she is such a nice young lady. We had a great time, sang happy birthday and then they were home by around 7! Happy Birthday Bobbi Jo!!!

12 Flights

We have started a biggest loser at work group. My team mate is Jessie and we named ourselves the Hot Tubs. how cool is that? Jessie lost 4 pounds last week and I lost none. but i didn't gain so that was nice. It's hard to believe I am still struggling with my weight even after I had that darn surgery. I guess it really does come down to exercise, which I hate!!!

The thought of exercise leads me to this post...we have been doing the stairs at lunch time! From B level to the top of the staircase is 108 steps or 6 flights. Yesterday another group was doing the stairs at the same time and conned us into doing it twice. OY VEY MARIA!!!! I thought my lungs would burn off and die by the time I made it to the top of that darn stairwell the second time. Not only that, but i sure in sh*t didn't bring any deodorant to work and it was obviously going to become necessary!! Holy Glockenspiel.

Anyhow, I lived but by the time I made it home last night, after working here, doing the 12 flights of stairs and then going to the stamping store for 2 1/2 hours, I was spent. But I decided not to sit down or I wouldn't get back up. So I made dinner of fish, veggies and brown rice. It came out really well and I was quite pleased with myself! I also did the dishes and a load of laundry, that luckily Corey finished.

He actually HAD to finish the laundry as I was too pooped to pop and was asleep by 20 of 9. Thank goodness for Motrin though...My back and hips are aching like bacon this morning!

Grandpa Love

In early January Corey and stopped by to see his folks. As they were on their way to babysit Sophie and Brady, we tagged along! I got to change one great big stinky diaper (thank you brady!) and take lots and lots of pictures. My favorite is a series of Paul playing airplane with Brady. The more Paul swung Brady the more the kid laughed, squealed, giggled and enjoyed himself. It was so much fun to see the joy both these Moulton men were experiencing!
