For you Kate

So here I am back in the land of blogging. Mary is getting ready to head south in just under two weeks and sadness abounds. That mixed in with some unemployment and I can see a LONG Fall ahead. Not from a stool or anything, fall as in Autumn!

This weekend I experienced the Deerfield Fair for the first time. It's a HUGE fair, very clean and had lots of yummy foods! But I think the amount of people there was a turnoff for me. It certainly is not the Sandwich fair with it's dirt, small barns and creepy carnies. Fun all the same however. I had fried dough, fresh squeezed lemonade and french fries. YUM! I may head to another one this weekend, depending on what comes up!

Last week was pretty busy for a gal who just lost her job! I had lots of appointments so I could make sure everything is ok before my Health Insurance runs out. I also just started Water Aerobics on Monday and Wednesday nights. Dinner with Darcy and Kelly on Monday and Ayden and Josie on Thursday! Spent all day Friday with mom and dad at the Fahm. The only thing I didn't do and wish I had, was clean up the mess of all the stuff I brought home from the library.

Luckily for me, that's on this week's agenda. Just this morning I went through the boxes, moving things around, throwing things out. I have about 4 boxes of stuff to be stored downstairs, probably for a yard sale and then I have one tote box full of stuff that will go into my next office, God Willing! Now I just have to haul all that stuff to it's proper position and then I'll need to tackle the bedroom. I'd post pictures, but it's WAY too embarrassing! Turns out clothing does not put itself away.

New Rule for Jenna: say yes more often. Say no if you already have plans, if it costs too much or if you could put your health at risk, but say yes to all other opportunities! Hopefully this will help me get out of the house everyday.

Oh and another new rule: Jenna MUST shower and get ready for her day right after walking Jadey poo and BEFORE eating breakfast, thus avoiding the "I showered at 11 am" syndrome that will surely make me feel slothful!

Ok, what do my readers wish me to write about? Inquiring Jenna's want to know!

Corey at Halloween

This was Corey’s outfit at Halloween.  I couldn’t get all of his blacks to match, but it was so dark it worked out perfect.  His feet were cold so he’d stand super still and then someone would walk by, notice him and jump.  I certainly did!!!

Happy Birthday this Saturday, November 21, 2009 to my pregnant friend Kate!  She is super fab even though she refuses to move to NH to be closer to her favorite Jen!  *boo hiss*  But she has the cutest child and bun EVER!  *Yippee

Mary

Mary is back in Florida and Jen is sad. No more yard saling adventures on Saturdays. No more dinner nad Mexican Train events. No more breakfasts out. Now I'll have to save all that up for a trip to Florida (if we can) or for next summer. *sigh* I'm glad she's happy, but seriously? I finally move back to NH and she leaves for half of it? What does that crap mean?

Corey and I did our Annual Pumpkin Carving the other night and here are the results! What do you think?

Sad over an animal I've never met...

How do you explain to people that you are sad about an animal you’ve never met but love all the same?

I start my day with this pug dog blog because it is emailed to me.  I love reading about the antics of these animals.  Sol, the black one (who I LOVE) came to them as a rescue from their neighborhood.  She is around 12 but is spunky and full of life.  Even though she is deaf, they’ve been teaching her sit/stay/leave it and she has apparently done really well.  She’s even learned to swim.  But now she’s had her second malignancy.  Makes me sad.  She is such and old soul and those eyes just make my black pug dog lovin’ heart melt!

The Results

Sol

The results of the pathology report came back and unfortunately it is not good news. The tumors sent for testing were malignant. The silver lining to this dark cloud is that there were clean margins. The pathology report also notes "no evidence of lymphatic or vascular invasion is seen." The tumor is what they consider a grade II mammary carcinoma (intermediate grade of malignancy) and the overall prognosis is guarded. The recommended next steps on the pathology report is to have a chest x-ray because this type of tumor has the potential for metastasis and usually does so in the lungs. Luckily, we had a chest x-ray done before she even had surgery and we know the lungs are clear at this time.

Where do we go from here? Well, no where really. We have dealt with things pretty much as best we can. The tumor has been removed and we have clean margins, which is absolutely fantastic. But the reality is that Sol has had two malignant tumors removed in less than a 12 month window.

We are appreciating every day we have with Sol. Each night when that little lady props her butt up on my pillow, I give her a big 'ole kiss and say, "Good night Solsey Baby!" And when I wake up in the morning with a stiff neck from sharing my pillow with her I look forward to all the little things that just make Sol Sol.

I don't know how things are going to play out and I'm not sure if I want to know. I had my day of doom & gloom yesterday, but now I am trying to be more positive. No matter how many tomorrows there are it will never be enough. So I am just hoping that the ups and downs of this roller coaster are all at the beginning and that we can have a smooth ride for a bit.

Oops, she did it again!

As if Mary and Stu are not already super proud of her, Kate Hawley went and got herself knocked up again!!!  She and her hubby-hoo Brian are going to be parents to a new bouncing baby something in February.  (I asked Kate what she was going to have and before she could say “we are not finding out” I said, “A baby Giraffe?” HA!)  Ethan will be a big brother and I’m sure he will love the new playmate, once the new kid stops crying and keeping Mummy Kate up all night!  Of course I am sad that it took Kate 18 weeks to tell her favorite Jenna about the new bundle of impending joy.  I’m also sad that I have no ability to return phone calls, but still…Kate knew that!!!

So next year, when we head out to visit Kate on Ethan’s second birthday, the bitty baby will be 3 months old.  *sigh*  I am sure it will be love at first kissy kiss!!

So, let’s play a super fun game!  Kate has all of these specific rules for baby names.  I’ll list the rules and then maybe you can make some suggestions.  The rules are as follows:

1.        Must be two syllable first names so that it will go well with the last name Smith and so the child will have two syllables to hear their name read in class, rather than one. (her rule, not mine!)

2.       Cannot be a name that can be made into a nickname.  Ex: Margaret into Meg, Bess, Marge etc.

3.       The middle name must be two or three syllables long to offset the two syllable first name and the one syllable last name.

Phew, this is exhausting.

I think there may be one or two more rules, but let’s be honest, it was ALMOST 9 pm last night when she was telling me this and I have a hard time with that time of night!

But truly Kate and Brian, congratulations on the new baby!

Now send me pictures of the old kid.

This weekend's project

This weekend Kelly, Darcy, Lori and Cheri came over and added a deck to my back yard, replacing the craptastic back steps I’ve had for three years!  That porch was tiny, Jade and I would be able to stand on the “deck” but we’d both have to step to the top step to open the door!  Poor dog, she’s been beaned in the head quite a few times!  And more than one person has fallen down the steps when they were wet, myself included.

I mentioned to Kelly a week or so ago that I needed a new deck and was getting an estimate.  She piped up and said, I can do that!  So she did!  Kelly asked another gal from LRGH if she wanted to help, and not even knowing ME, Lori said yes.

So after 12 hours, 3 trips to Lowe’s, one trip to Aubachon, 1 Dunkin’s run, a trip to the library to get the plans, a subway run and a Little Caesar’s trip; we finished the most AWESOME, totally RAD, wicked COOL, PERFECT deck!!!

What do you think?  The before and after pictures have been included.  You can use the big rock and the hanging basket as points of reference!

Sunshine cake

Just call me the Wilton girl. Since making those cupcake brownie hamburgers, I’ve decided that I enjoy frosting and baking. And why not? It’s fun, makes me popular at parties and it’s a good hobby. Oh and I get so sick of the goodies by the time I am done that I don’t eat any!

This weekend it was birthday central! But I only made one of the cakes. My friend Darcy’s is 6 months older than me and to celebrate I made this cake. It was a lot of fun, but really hard. Mom helped for sure and was in charge of the sugar cookies. The whole thing was to be iced with “stars” but I eventually gave in and iced it smooth. Ultimately I think it looked better, but still.

Oh and it started with two layers and ended with one. Don’t ask…
