LL Bean Comforter

I am finally sending back my comforter to LL Bean. I’m not sure if they will exchange it and I’m sad to see it go. So I wrote this letter to the returns people, so they will know what the comforter means to me.

Dorky yes, but heartfelt….

L.L.Bean Returns 3 Campus Dr. Freeport, ME 04034

To Whom it May Concern:

I am returning my twin sized down comforter. It was my first down comforter and was well loved and used since the very first day it came to live with me. It cuddled me through the cold dorm nights my freshman year of college in NH, warmed my toes and heart during the darkest of cold winter in Fairbanks, Alaska and treated me to toasty comfort when working in Western NY.

Since moving home to NH it has been my go to comfort when distressed, cold, lonely, cranky, sick or just in need of a toe cover while watching TV. I regret now that it’s been so well loved and used as it has been losing feathers faster than I can sew the holes up.

So, it is with great sadness that I am returning this great comfort. I’ve been promising my boyfriend for 3 months now that I would do this, however, I just haven’t been able to let go of the comfort, joy and peace. So today I am taking a great leap, boxing up my most prized possession and sending it back to you.

I am hoping that you will be able to send me a new twin comforter that will have the same great qualities as this one. Of course it needs to be warm and comforting (DUH!) but it also needs to be able to wrap around myself and my loved ones, spread joy, bring the warmth of true sanctuary, be a security blanket, look good and be happy to provide service for another 13 years, much like the one I am returning.

Treat this comforter with love, as I certainly have.

Thank you,
