Mo the Clown / Lester the Jester

Thursday night I met a friend from college at the Tilton Diner. I hadn't seen him since 1999 when we both left college. He lives in Connecticut with his two cute kids and college sweetheart. we had a fabulous dinner and great conversation! It had been years but felt like old times. I do wish he lived closer.

While we were eating though, a young guys went over to the booth behind us and started doing balloon designs for the kids. He made a super cute pirate hat and sword that had me thinking...argh, matey, I wish I were a kid!Arrrgh.

But seeing this guy do balloon designs reminded me of Mo the Clown/Lester the Jester. He was a clown in the Shriner Clown Corps when my dad was a Shriner and went to all their events. he taught me to make a few balloon animals when I was younger and it was always fun to see him. He was a big bald guy and hard to miss.

Well no sooner had I told Chris about this Mo the Clown dude when low and behold, who walked over to the young balloon designer? That's right, Mo the Clown. When he walked by again I said, "Hey, aren't you Lester the Jester, otherwise known as Mo the Clown?" Well that started 45 minutes of conversation/entertainment! He was chatty Cathy and said he'd stopped doing Jester about 16 years ago (man that makes me old) cause the hat was so heavy.

It was fun to see him again and he was wicked funny. he even said that since I remembered him as Lester the Jester and no one had called him that in years he'd come to a function of mine for free if his dates matched up.

Now I wonder what kind of function I should throw!?!

Just stumbled across you blog via Lorraine...

I worked at the Tilt'n Diner for a summer back in the day and...I had Mo the Clown at my 16th birthday party (and, yes, I realize how seriously, seriously pathetic that sounds, but we all had a blast).

Nice to find another local blog!
